Often though of as the American version of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood, Edgar Lee Masters' poem cycle is related entirely by ghosts, and set in a small American town during the First World War. Through song and testimony, the layers of secret, silence, regret and powerful bonds of love that hold a small town together are revealed.
