Strange Lands archiveWinner of the International Playwrights' Forum/International Theatre Institute Playwriting Competition 2002, Strange Lands is an insight into the experience of the dispossessed, identifying a common culture in three marginal lives, spanning across three different countries: England, America and an unspecified war-torn region which might be anywhere in the modern world. In the latter story, Mila, a young refugee, is forced to make the difficult and dangerous journey towards an aid camp far from her family home. In America, Tom, an ex-serviceman, takes a road trip all the way from the East coast to the Nevada desert in search of his estranged wife and child. In England, Helen, a middle-class alcoholic, finds herself struggling to survive, living rough on the streets of a rundown coastal town.
