Muriel's mother from Cherryvalley, decides to come on an extended visit covering the period of the race much to Muriels pigeon fancier husband, Herbie's disgust. Add to this the tick-man Albert McCartney's amorous advances towards Lily, Herbies constant battle with the woman next door and her cat, Muriel's daughter Susan's on/off relationship with Billy and you have the ingredients for a pot-pourri and Sam Cree fun.
