Influenced by Dylan Thomas'
Under Milk Wood, Louis de Bernieres chose to celebrate his experience of life in South London living above a small shop by writing about the people he knew and came to love in his time there - brilliantly capturing the myriad voices of modern Britain. This play was first broadcast on BBC radio in 1998.
