A haunting tale of life, love and community set in Ireland. Bridie lives with her elderly father on their isolated farm. It's a hard life, and Bridie knows she needs a husband. A solid working man who can pull his weight on the farm. So on Saturday night, she shakes out her dreams and her dancing frock and sets off for Mr Dwyer's Ballroom of Romance. Because one day he might be there. Waltzing under the glitterball, the handsome man who'll lead her up the aisle tot he glamorous sound of the Romantic Jazz Band. But time's getting on, and as Bridie well knows, beggars can't be choosers. So nearly a love story, The Ballroom of Romance is a tender celebration of ordinary life.
