In a dilapidated town on the ragged fringes of the new Europe a major new opera is eagerly anticipated. With the visit of European dignitaries imminent, the approval of the all-powerful state critic is all that's needed... Until... During one frantic night, in a comic confusion of mistaken identities and secret aspirations, locals and visitors alike become entangled in a series of absurd intrigues. As the night progresses, lust and suspicion prompt strange alliances, while each new revelation takes us closer to the hysteria of the climax.
