The End of the Line archiveSix years is a long time to stay away. But when Anna receives a desperate cry for help, she can't resist the call of her oldest friends - the dangerous, volatile twins Madeline and Roderick Usher. Her loyalty is the only thing that will help them survive... and even that may not be enough. The End of the Line is a modern re-imagining of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. Updating the action to a damp bedsit in a bleak, urban landscape, it is a gothic and lyrical exploration of obsession, addiction and destiny. Gimcrack Productions build on Poe's original text to give Madeline Usher a voice, exploring her intense, unstable relationships with her twin brother and their only childhood friend. Holding Poe's depiction of women up to the light, The End of the Line is the debut show from Gimcrack: a multi-disciplinary, genre-defying production company. Taking the best elements of theatre, circus and cabaret, adding a little bit of unease and large amounts of weird, Gimcrack's shows are focused on entertainment - though they sometimes can't help sneaking in the political, the strange and the thought-provoking.
