The Highwayman archiveBased on the original poem by Alfred Noyes, this haunting tale comes to life as we venture through the treacherous moors of eighteenth century England, caught amidst love, betrayal and sacrifice. Mad King George rules the throne and bloodthirsty highwaymen roam the land; after the arrival of a mysterious new lodger, Bess; the kind-hearted but spirited daughter of a tyrannical innkeeper and Anna; her faithful maid, find themselves inescapably caught in a dangerous game of jealousy and deceit. The enigmatic Captain will do anything to complete his mission, including recruiting the Inn's timid ostler, Tim. With their conviction tested beyond measure, Bess and Anna must rely on their faith in each other if they are to escape with their lives.
