Maurice Holt is a desperate man. Once a respected professional, he finds himself disgraced, on hard times and being blackmailed by his vile, scheming stepbrother, Colin. When the ice on the lake that separates their houses begins to thaw, Maurice suddenly sees a solution to his problems and a way out of Colin's clutches.
