The Interrogation of Ambrose Fogarty archiveArguably the most controversial play produced in Belfast in the last 30 years, The Interrogation of Ambrose Fogarty electrified the Ulster theatre when first produced in the 1980's. With angry walk-out, audience barracking and packed houses, its place was immediately secured as an Ulster classic. Set in a Police Station in West Belfast in the 1970's Fogarty charts the story of two prisoners over a three-day detention period. Ambrose Fogarty claims he is innocent of armed robbery. The Police Special Branch believes otherwise. Into this bursts the anarchic Willie Lagan, a guitar-playing jokester who hasn't a clue why he's being arrested. Stand by for the fireworks!
