The Rainmaker
T01086876381
Set on a farm somewhere in the West during a drought. The earth is parched for lack of rain. And Lizzie's soul is equally parched for love. She has been 'left on the shelf' and despairs of ever finding a man that will love her. Her father and brothers are trying their best to help, but are entirely unsuccessful. There is also the embittered File, a sheriff's deputy, who pretends to be widowed when he's actually divorced. Into this settling walks Starbuck, the enigmatic and charming con-man, and promises to bring the rain. The ensuing chain of events is surprising, funny and heart warming. The 1956 film starred Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn.
