Details
The 15th century Florentine preacher Savonarola, hanged and burnt to death on orders from the Vatican, returns from the after-life into the body of a dissolute, drunken, stand-up comedian. This whistleblower on church corruption stood up to the multinational banking houses of the Medici and was a thorn in the side of the Vatican! He persuaded the Florentines to rid themselves of their vain materialism. His statue still stands at the foot of Luther's monument at Worms as a reputed "forerunner of the Reformation". ?Nothing changes. All religions are still gripped in the vice of politics, the rich still sing the loudest tunes, scientific eminence races forward while morality sleeps'.
