The Ridiculous Darkness archiveAfter a string of critically acclaimed performances in Germany, The Ridiculous Darkness sees its premier on the UK stage at The Wardrobe Theatre. Loosely inspired by Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, this absurdly funny and increasingly deranged play follows two soldiers on their journey through the Hindu Kush to assassinate a former high ranking officer. As their grip on reality gradually loosens through their descent into wilderness they encounter an array of increasingly bizarre characters, from a Colonel obsessed with litter disposal, an eccentric American preacher, a lonely Russian bear and a philosophical parrot. This play explores the absurdities of a postcolonial landscape in a shambolic, energetic and slightly mad way.
