Details
The predominantly young working-class men of the 7th and 8th Reserve Battalion Sherwood Foresters suffered the worst casualties amongst the British army in Ireland during Easter Week, 1916. Yet they have long gone unremembered. In this specially devised production, students from Hall Park Academy in Eastwood recover the voices of the soldiers from Nottinghamshire. They use the words of those soldiers, their opponents, and Eastwood's most celebrated son DH Lawrence who expressed his own strong views about both the Easter Rising and the First World War.
