Troop archiveIt's September 2002 and Britain is drifting towards war in Iraq. Jemima, a passionate and serious-minded dancer, tries to galvanize her friends into anti-war action. Andrew, her best friend, seems more content to create a display of war poetry than join her on London's first major anti war demonstration. Ralph, her boyfriend, has his own agenda for the weekend and Iraq doesn't feature that highly on his list of priorities. And as for 17 year-old Beth, the march is simply an excuse to have a good time. How do relationships stand up when political differences emerge? Troop explores the effects that differing political attitudes can have on a group of young people when their convictions are put to the test. Whilst the characters deliberate from their safe surroundings, the action is interspersed with monologues set during the 20th and 21st centuries, which illustrate the much crueller realities of war.
