Twilight of the Gods archiveRichard Wagner and Friedrich Nietzsche were good friends. But on the day of Wagner's greatest triumph, the opening of his Opera House at Bayreuth, Nietzsche angrily walked away from the friendship and later threatened to kill Wagner! Soon after these events Wagner died and Nietzsche went mad, spending the last ten years of his life in a permanent state of catatonia. 'TWILIGHT OF THE GODS' is set in the asylum where the raving Nietzsche is visited by the ghost of the dead Wagner and a manic conversation reveals the extraordinary details of the tormented quarrel between these two giants of 19th Century culture.
