What's Left is not Right: Marat-Sade archiveA new adaptation of Peter Weiss' Marat/Sade. What's Left Is Not Right: Marat/Sade uses movement, song, music, dance, chanting, excerpts of Shakespeare and that swirl of chaos, madness and desperation called the French Revolution to comment upon an aspect of humanity that most of us avoid confronting. Jean Paul Marat with his inflammatory writing believes violence is necessary, but as his work incites action that kills innocent and guilty alike, a new revolution of one is rising to destroy him. "Where does it end?" and "Is it within human nature to ever end?" asks the Marquis de Sade, director and sometimes voyeur of the performance he has orchestrated for the pleasure of the audience, erstwhile visitors to the asylum. "Revolution Now!" echoes across the stage more than once. But we are reminded that Marat is an asylum inmate...
