White Riot archiveTwenty-year-old football fan Danny is the first person in his family to go to university, and today is his first visit home in months. It's also a big day in the football calendar and an even bigger day for Danny's dad Robert. Today is the day Robert will secure his reputation as one of Millwall's faces. But how does Danny fit into this world now? White Riot is an honest and poignant exploration into some of contemporary British society's taboo and controversial issues. The play uses the framework of football violence to explore a father and son's relationship, and discusses tolerance, pride, changing generational attitudes, the role class plays in higher education and the complexity of aspiration.
