Woodcut archiveHelen and Julian have been together for a year and have just moved into their new home, bought by Helen's mother, Angela, in South East London. Julian is a self-employed tree surgeon who works locally. He doesn't earn a lot compared to Helen but is content. Helen is a marketing manager for Core International, an integrated design consultancy and feels trapped by her job. Helen is constantly under pressure from her parents to better herself; they have always taken a dim view of her relationship with Julian. Helen is living a lie, unhappy with the politics of her job and the insecurity of not trusting her instinct. Julian is unhappy about living in her mother's house but if it makes Helen happy? Seduced by drink, Helen finds herself at her lowest point, vulnerable and lost. Enter Myles, her new boss. A dinner party ends in confrontation and hurtful scorns. A following client outing ends in the ultimate betrayal. Helen is forced to make the most important decisions of her life.
