Yellow Longhair archiveLoosely based on the events of The Battle of The Little Big Horn (otherwise known as Custer's Last Stand). It's the summer of 1876, and out amongst the vast-open spaces of the Dakota Badlands, the West (the Wild West) is on the brink of being 'tamed'. U.S. General George A. Morningstar has been dispatched deep into enemy territory at the head of an advanced 5-man reconnaissance unit. His orders would appear to be straightforward enough: locate and subdue the hostile Indian tribes by whatever force necessary. However, when a planned rendezvous with the main body of the advancing Seventh Cavalry fails to materialise, it sets in motion a dream-like series of events which help lift Yellow Longhair beyond the realms of simple schoolboy fiction and into an environment with altogether more mythopoetic dimensions. There's something about the land itself it would seem. It's sheer size. It's desolate beauty. It's timeless ancient wonder.
