In 1997 Keith Campbell and Ian Wilmut announced the birth of Dolly, the first sheep to be cloned from a cultured adult cell. They achieved something many thought possible only in science fiction. How they did so, the moral debate raised by the cloning of Dolly and current research into genetic engineering are described and discussed in the major book on the topic
