Whilst Daria Martin's works have been screened individually in the UK, this is the first opportunity to view the trilogy of films she completed between 2000 and 2004. In the Palace, Birds and Closeup Gallery, collectively combine influences from different areas of artistic practice - from dance to fashion, painting and sculpture. Subverting the sealed-in illusionistic qualities of cinema through the use of handmade-props and low-tech special effects, Martin's films re-cast the stylised and iconic as fragile fantasy worlds. The screenings will last approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by an in-conversation with the artist.
