National Gallery Curator, Christopher Riopelle, offers insight into Van Gogh's life and work, and provides some context for Nicholas Wright's new play, Vincent in Brixton, which focuses on the artist's early years in London and is currently playing at the Cottesloe. CHRISTOPHER RIOPELLE is curator of 19th-Century Paintings at the National Gallery, London. He was formerly associate curator of European painting and sculpture at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and assistant curator of paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu, CA. He has taught at the American College in Paris, New York University, and the University of Pennsylvania, and has lectured widely in the United Kingdom and the United States.
