The Endurance of Shakespeare

T0
Why does the work of William Shakespeare remain so potent for people? Why do so many feel that he had such a great understanding of the human condition, that his work still has something to say, almost four hundred years after his death? These questions form the basis of this discussion of Shakespeare and the enduring legacy and strength of his writing. He is said to have defined what it is to be 'English', his work continues to influence our view of English history before the Tudors. Robert Hewison, Sunday Times theatre critic and cultural historian chairs a panel including Jonathan Bate, Michael Boyd, Declan Donnellan, Richard Eyre and Fiona Shaw.
