One year ago five young and talented performers in Leeds were chosen to form the fresh and vibrant new company Union City Dance Theatre. Having completed a hugely successful national tour of their show 'base uk', which took in performances and practical workshops at theatres, school and community centres, Union City return to Leeds to offer children and teenagers a four day Summer School combining hip-hop, street dance, rap and dance theatre. Summer School participants will escape holiday boredom as they are encouraged to try the latest moves and create their own piece of dance theatre. Union City's Artistic Director Jan Burkhardt explained: 'The company are young and dynamic so there'll be full on dancing to high energy music. Participants will develop their street dance skills and explore their own creative ideas.' The Union City Summer School is for all abilities and runs from Tuesday 24 until Friday 27 August at Yorkshire Dance Centre in Leeds City Centre. The Junior Summer School (7-11yrs) will run from 10:00 to 11:30. The Senior Summer School (12-18yrs) runs from 11:30 to 16:30.
