Japan Airlines Family Club Concert archiveDoyo are traditional Japanese children's songs many of whose lyrics were written by outstanding poets of the Meiji Era (1867-1914) with music composed by equally gifted composers. The poems depict the beauty of nature and the seasons, and love of people, animals, birds and plants from a child's perspective. Doyo were taught in Japanese schools for generations and so inspire feelings of nostalgia in many Japanese people. Saori Yuki and Sachiko Yasuda have made Doyo popular in recitals throughout the world.
