2015 - Grand Final
The inaugural Grand Final of BBC Young Dancer comes to Sadler's Wells, with the UK's best young dancers performing for this prestigious award. Announced as part of BBC Arts, dancers aged 16-20 from all over the UK were invited to enter four categories: Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and South Asian Dance. The winners of the Category Finals (to be shown on BBC Four) plus two additional candidates chosen by the judges, will dance at the Grand Final. Each dancer will premiere a new solo piece created especially for them by a leading young choreographer. They will also dance a solo, duet (pas de deux/battle) and an ensemble piece. The judging panel for the Grand Final features some of the leading names in British dance: Matthew Bourne, Akram Khan, Wayne McGregor, Tamara Rojo, Kenrick Sandy and Alistair Spalding. The Grand Final will be televised on BBC Two as part of the BBC's continuing commitment to the arts and support of new talent. BBC Young Dancer is part of BBC Four's 'Year of Song and Dance'. Running time: approx. 3hrs (including an interval)
