An evening of exhilarating contemporary dance from two of the region’s brightest talents. Exploring the complications of a man’s anger and the constant battle between activism and pacifism, Tom Dale’s Rise is a hypnotic, addictive and relentless new work underpinned by an electronic soundtrack. In a world of falsified freedom and spoon-fed desires, where television informs our needs and fulfils our fading fantasies, to what extent can we release ourselves from the subtle binds of modern society? Meanwhile, Jane Turner brings together a large cast of fabulous female performers and the latest visual technologies to create an iconic slice of new dance theatre. Using complex choreography, Troop celebrates the theatricalised female form and the power of the dancing line, while inter-woven narratives of difference and desire illuminate the enduring allure of the showgirl.
