Among the greatest living pianists. Mitsuko Uchida brings Beethoven's last, towering keyboard masterpiece to Royal Festival Hall. His Diabelli Variations contain startling and original music, full of humour, pathos, virtuosity and humanity. Alongside this, she performs some of Schubert's poetic and other-worldly Impromptus. Uchida, a winner of numerous awards, received her musical training in Vienna and has long been associated with that city's most famous composers, including the two featured here.
