BBC Proms Chamber Music A recital of 'Baroque Reflections' devised by this remarkably accomplished former Radio 3 New Generation Artist and inspired by Brahms's magnificent homage to the music of anniversary composer Handel. Busoni and Mendelssohn reinvented Bach for their own times: Busoni by transcribing for the piano a selection of organ pieces, and Mendelssohn by breathing vivid new life into an archaic form in a turbulent Prelude and Fugue. Brahms worked on an even broader canvas with the music of Handel, transforming a theme from one of his keyboard suites and building to a glorious climax. Handel, that supreme man of the theatre, would have loved it! There will be no interval. Approx finish time: 14:00.
