In partnership with the Tobacco Factory, Bristol City Council and Aardman Animations, Puppet Place is planning Bristol’s first ever festival dedicated to puppetry in all its forms, from socks to latex and street theatre to celluloid. The festival offers something for everyone, with a range of performances, workshops, films and exhibitions featuring the best of local, national and international talent. The Tobacco Factory - the hub for most Festival events - will be taken over and transformed into a Puppet Place, filled with shows, installations and events - all designed to inspire, provoke and entertain. Alongside the programmed performances, the organisers have created an accessible and interactive events programme: Film screenings Aardman Animations and Puppet Place present a programme of rare and unseen film and video from the world of puppet animation. Puppets on the Streets Festival-goers of any age can work alongside established theatre artists to design and create puppets, which may appear in shop windows, street corners, car parks or on the pavements of South Bristol... Keep your eyes peeled! Puppet Prototype Theatre Bristol and Tobacco Factory Theatre’s regular Prototype night presents a puppetry and animated theatre special. Emerging artists perform extracts of their ‘works in progress’ to audiences who are encouraged to offer valuable aftershow feedback.The P Word - a pan el discussion An opportunity to both hear and engage in lively debate with a panel of internationally regarded artists, among them an OscarTM-winning animator, who all use puppetry in their work.
