Originally written in 1974,
Tae is one of Korea's most well known stories. Based around the story of Tanjong, the fourth King of the Chosen Dynasty,
Tae reveals the history behind Tanjong's violent abdication and the subsequent usurpment of his throne by his uncle. The bloody tradition of execution of both traitors and their extended families continued in Korea right up until the recent Korean War and has heightened the importance of the blood line for many Koreans in present society. Nine internationally respected performers will dance, chant, fight and sing to tell this fascinating chapter of Korean History. Specially commissioned music adapting oriental drum sounds and Tibetan flutes with progressive rock music, rice paper images and shadow design will combine to create a sensory experience that is a hybrid of both Western and Eastern theatrical tradition
