Another magical year at Kew Gardens with their beautiful Christmas Walk.
Each year, just after dark, Kew Gardens becomes a magical place with fun fair, food, drink, small panto (poor cold actors!) and a walk through a magical forest.. We were incredibly lucky with the weather but I have been in the drizzle in the past and it was still a pretty magical experience and there is always plenty to see.
I think this is my fifth year doing the walk and there were parts of this that were better than ever, particularly the field of moving lights near the start and the projections over the lake which just get better each time I see them (extract in the video below). The walk over the bridge between fleets of colour changing "paper" boats was very special and worth a while to stand and stare whilst the laser section had all the children very excited.
I was a little disappointed with the fire garden this year but the overall lighting was as good as ever with some really lovely sections that made the children squeal with delight and adults ooh and ahh.
The burger I had was excellent as was the cava, mulled wine and mulled apple juice with sloe gin! I have enjoyed toasting a marshmallow there before too but managed to restrain myself this year ... somehow.
I really love this annual extravaganza - a great way to start the celebration season!
