Take a two man script, throw in two top notch actors and you should have a recipe for a real success, but that really isn't the case here. Ian McKellen and Roger Allam are teamed up in a tale of two men who have lost/left their partners, finding love through meeting when walking their dogs. However, even the performances of two brilliant actors cannot lift this play, sorry but it really didn't engage me. The script is over long for the arc the characters go on and the writing lacks punch whilst the direction is pedestrian and the dog bark sound effects are simply not credible. Some funny lines but not a coherent production.
