The recent change in advice over the safety of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in buildings has resulted in a number of venues having to close temporarily until they can be checked. Any found to have RAAC that is "at risk" will have to take measures to make those areas safe. In some cases (e.g. Royal & Derngate) the RAAC is in the foyer areas, in others it could be the whole, or part of, the roof.
Where we have been informed of a closure we will list it here.
Sep 11 Update: Seven theatres are now known to have closed spaces, including the Dixon Studio at Southend's Palace Theatre, The Core Theatre in Solihull, Sands Centre (event space), the Brunton in Musselburgh, the Orchard Theatre in Dartford and the Royal and Derngate in Northampton.
