The only early music group to have been compared in the press to the Rolling Stones, Jackson Pollock, the Marx Brothers, Spike Jones and the Cirque du Soleil, Red Priest have redefined the art of period performance. Taking their name from the composer Antonio Vivaldi, Red Priest have become internationally renowned during the past ten years. Surely the combination of recorder, violin and cello and harpsichord has never created so many exciting performances. Their programme includes Vivaldi’s Tempesta di Mare Concerto, a Pirate Suite by Couperin, the ‘Albinoni’ Adagio and works by Bach, Tartini and Handel, all performed with swashbuckling virtuosity.
