You're Needy (Sounds Frustrating) archiveCarrie has moved into her bathroom. She lives off slim noodles, endless cups of coffee, takes long tea-infused baths and does face masks. Every week she is visited by a volunteer who has been hired to help her leave the bathroom and reintegrate into society. This week, it's your turn. Breathe deeply. You'll need to. As some of our most prominent leaders, artists and intellectuals advocate "self-care" as a means of resistance, even as a revolutionary act, we are asking whether creating a kinder world really begin with yourself? Or is this ideology just a brilliant disguise for the godless materialism of late-stage capitalism? Must we, perhaps, remove the cucumber from our eyes in order to see clearly again? It's time to leave the bathroom and tear down the house. You're needy (sounds frustrating) is an offsite piece for one audience member, that touches on sleep, monotony, meditation, medication, and, of course, Gwenyth Paltrow. It will be hard, it will be uncomfortable, it may even be fatal. But we are making this show because it isn't about you. This performance happens at an off site location, 30 minutes from CPT by public transport. The address will be sent directly to you after booking, the day before your event.
