Carrie has moved into her bathroom. She lives off slim noodles, endless cups of coffee, takes long tea-infused baths and does face masks. Every week she is visited by a volunteer who has been hired to help her leave the bathroom and reintegrate into society. This week, it's your turn. Breathe deeply. You'll need to. As some of our most prominent leaders, artists and intellectuals advocate "self-care" as a means of resistance, even as a revolutionary act, we are asking whether creating a kinder world really begin with yourself? Or is this ideology just a brilliant disguise for the godless materialism of late-stage capitalism? Must we, perhaps, remove the cucumber from our eyes in order to see clearly again?
