Robert Mitchell - 3io archivePianist and arranger Robert Mitchell is the hottest new ticket on the jazz scene. His inspired musical journey has led to work with the UK's finest jazz musicians, Andy Sheppard, Denys Baptiste, Omar Puente, Steve Williamson and Courtney Pine. He has adopted the sounds of his generation, using elements of hip-hop, reggae and funk. Mitchell's credentials are impeccable: his sextet Panacea released their album Voyage to high acclaim, and as part of Quite Sane he appeared with the godfather of funk himself James Brown. Over the years Robert Mitchell 3io have honed their mix of influences and tonight's performance promises for an energetic, vibrant and dynamic experience. From freeform jazz and electronica to classical and folk, the Robert Mitchell 3io perform an eclectic blend of original compositions by each of the band members, along with arrangements of tunes by Radiohead, Massive Attack, the famously sampled Galt MacDermot, as well as Dance Cadaverous amongst others.
