Googoosh's phenomenally successful career in the performing arts spans 6 decades, and she is regarded as the most iconic and influential female singer of Iran. Her music ranges from upbeat 1960s and 70s pop, given a Persian-tinged edge, to declamatory, emotional ballads dealing with love and loss, which at times edge towards chanson and Piaf territory. Googoosh has also starred in over 25 movies, one of which was to be the most commercially successful Iranian motion picture of all time prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Following a 21 year performing ban, Googoosh finally left the country in 2000, and has since released 6 studio albums, and continues her current world tour to promote her latest album E'jaz (Miracle) with a performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
