Googoosh's phenomenally successful career in the performing arts spans 6 decades, and she is regarded as the most iconic and influential female singer of Iran. Her music ranges from upbeat 1960s and 70s pop, given a Persian-tinged edge, to declamatory, emotional ballads dealing with love and loss, which at times edge towards chanson and Piaf territory.
