A Handful of Keys is a unique mixture of revue, concert, cabaret, tribute and parody. In an outrageously funny and intensely entertaining evening. Ian von Memerty and Roelof Colyn send up such musical greats as Liberace, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Carole King, Barry Manilow and Vonda Shephard. The innovative and witty tribute to pianists and music will receive its UK premiere in London after a sell-out success in South Africa, and will play for ten performances only. This is a charity performance to save the life of the son of actor Ian von Memerty (director and writer of Umoja and creator and one of the stars of A Handful of Keys. Funds are needed for six-and-a-half-year-old Oscar who was born with a genetic metabolic illness which causes all the soft tissues to swell, causing massive deformity, increasing paralysis and loss of motor functions. His sister has died from this rare disease. A team from Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital are willing to perform a transplant on Oscar, as they have located a well-matched donor. However, they require an up-front payment of £120,000. Hence, the urgent need for this benefit concert.
