In association with the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, the Royal College of Music - along with the conservatoires of Paris and Orsay - has been involved in a special project to recreate the distinctive sound of the world's first professional orchestra, founded by Louis XIII in 1626. Few of the original instruments have survived but specialist reconstructions allow us to savour the unique texture and rich inner voices as they might have been heard at the French court over 300 years ago. There will be no intervalConductor Roger Norrington (Sir).

Maxwell Davies/Aperghis & Sir Harrison Birtwistle - T01093133300

Sir Peter Maxwell Davies's Il rozzo martello, a contemplation on a sonnet by Michelangelo, was composed for the BBC Singers in 1997. There will be no interval. Finish time: approx. 16:30Performer Andrew Watts (counter-tenor). Performer Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts (tenor). Performer Nicholas Hodges (piano). Company BBC Singers. Company London Sinfonietta.
