Details

Traditional and contemporary Yoruba music combine in the soulful voice of Funmi Olawumi - a member of the original Queens of Lagos, the founder of the Yoruba Women Choir and one of the leading singers in the Nigerian wedding party music scene. She creates Faaji from a refreshing mix of influences, from juju, highlife and afrobeat and fuji, with music ranging from spirituals and love songs to dance pieces. Faaji means having a good time and Funmi Olawumi and her 12-piece band, featuring the talking drummers of Nigeria plus the Naaja Soul Sisters, create hypnotic music that galvanizes and uplifts in a remarkable way.
