Bhangra electronica, juju soul, Afro-Asian funk and raga-pop and a kaleidoscope of multicultural harmonies. Indian master percussionist Trilok Gurtu is joined by Italy's Arkè String Quartet to perform music from their critically acclaimed CD, Arkeology, as part of the 2008/09 International Chamber Music Season. This concert represents a rare departure from the classical tradition for the International Chamber Music Season. Both Gurtu and the Arkè Quartet effortlessly cross musical boundaries and have previously collaborated to record their 2007 album Arkeology, which saw them employ Indian, Balkan and Celtic rhythms to create music of melodic force.
