Choreography of An Arguement Round a Table - T01873732430

An unpredictable and riotous physical performance that unpicks what it is to be in an argument, and how we win and lose while our trousers are down. The setting around a table could be a pub, the UN Security Council or a family dinner in Hampstead. The work provokes questions on the absurdities of political stances, self-belief, power, manipulation and confrontation whilst revealing how the physical body exists within social and intellectual constructs. 5 striking performers and a piano create an unpredictable and riotous physical performance that unpicks what it is to be in an argument, and how we win and lose while our trousers are down.Punctuated by Matteo Fargion's often hauntingly simple piano studies, the group appropriate provocative actions and statements, like puppets, operating a formal, tight, rhythmical, structure, within which messy, confusing ideas can exist.Director Henrietta Hale. Director Rachel Lopez de la Nieta. Music Matteo Fargion. Lighting Martin Langthorne. Performer Charlie Ashwell. Performer Jim Barnard. Performer Joan Cleville. Performer Henrietta hale. Performer Erik Nevin.

Figure Stuck Stuck - T01905991927

Claire Barclay’s sculpture becomes the inspiration for live dance performances by outstanding British choreographers. On the 20 and 21 January, for two nights only, Dog Kennel Hill Project, a collaboration between innovative dancers Ben Ash, Henrietta Hale and Rachel Lopez de la Nieta, perform Figure Stuck, Stuck. This piece was developed during their residency at the Gallery in November 2010 and arises from their interest in the investigation of new contexts for dance. Claire Barclay is a leading figure in a generation of young sculptors who have re-engaged with craft techniques and the symbolic resonance of materials. The architectural mix of the East End with its dark cobbled alleyways, Georgian townhouses and modern buildings are refracted into her sculpture. Barclay has created a complex space for peeking around corners and for being observed.Performer Ben Ash. Performer Henrietta Hale. Performer Rachel Lopez de la Nieta.

To the Other Place - The Odd Honest Code/Safe/Unsafe/Man Working - T01799847676

Dog Kennel Hill’s triple bill To The Other Place (Fri 1 & Sat 2 May), strips away the boundaries of the theatre setting, inviting the audience to roam the space, and navigate its own way through the world each piece creates. The Odd Honesty Code involves a motley collection of objects that become instruments in a makeshift studio, as four dancers re-enact their twisted journeys to the underworld. Safe/Unsafe is a solo for Henrietta Hale that examines the nature of risk and survival in unknown waters. Man Working sees solo performer Ben Ash covered in cymbals, using structured repetitive activity and poignant images to play with the audience’s perception of their own observation.
