The female role player as performer has taken a crucial role in the formation of traditional Asian theatre and dance. This programme aims to introduce the artistry of this particular ole play in the performing arts of Asia, including Japan, as well as to re-evaluate its contemporary significance. The event has already appeared to great success in Japan in 2001. In Gesture and Glance incorporates a selection of dances from four Asian countries.
