Kapow presents environmentally themed performances which tell stories through dance, physical theatre and circus. Their latest work Mayfly has been supported by Without Walls and commissioned by Stockton International Riverside Festival and Timber Festival. Mayfly is Kapow's most ambitious piece to date. A custom-engineered set incorporates 5 fountains, programmed to shoot water into the air in sync with the two dancers' choreography. Inspired by the brief life of the mayfly and its famous last dance, the piece is a metaphor for the fleeting, ephemeral nature of life and how our survival is inextricably linked to our environment. Mayfly is performed to an original soundtrack by Andy Pink featuring a digital choir of 150 women and girls.
