Once upon a time there was a giant dollshouse whose porcelain-faced inhabitants, figures from a magic toybox, danced to the story of Cinderella...Eerie and evocative, Maguy Marin's mesmeric retelling of Cinderella has been acclaimed across the globe for its dark infusion of legend, childhood imagery and psychological insight. Created in 1985 for the Lyon Opera Ballet, Cinderella has become a staple of the company's canon. The striking choreography has the dancers in full masks, blending spectacular stagecraft with an extraordinary vocabulary of movement, reminiscent of the films of Jan Svankmajer.
