Person to Person

Rubato's Dieter Baumann and Jutta Hell have worked together for over 20 years, investigating the body onto which cultural and sexual identities are projected. 'Person to Person' is a duet for Baumann and Jin Xing, one of China's most celebrated dancers, who underwent a sex change to become a woman in 1994. The two artists confront each other with their contrasting biographies, cultural contexts and identities as a man and a woman. Part of MADE IN BERLIN, a season at The Place and BITE: 03 at the Barbican, celebrating the diverse but distinctive contemporary work currently being produced by Berlin’s vibrant community of dance artists. Presented in association with the City of London Festival.
